LEADERSHIP-EVANGELIST KATJA PETERATZINGER
Actually, I originally did not want to use any of the classic buzzwords on this website. The term “Leadership Evangelist” certainly moves in that direction. However, since I have heard this description directed at me quite often lately, I started reflecting on what it actually means — and realized that it truly does describe me rather well.
A “Leadership Evangelist” is generally understood to be someone who not only provides professional leadership, but who actively creates enthusiasm for an idea, vision, technology, or movement and tries to inspire others to join and support it.
The term is especially relevant in the following contexts:
- Business & Innovation
Someone who communicates new ways of thinking, technologies, or strategies both internally and externally.
Example: An innovation evangelist within a company explains opportunities, inspires teams, and builds communities.
- Community & Network Building
Connecting people, gaining multipliers and supporters, creating visibility, and emotionally strengthening a shared mission.
- Thought Leadership
Representing and promoting an idea through public speaking, storytelling, social media, workshops, or media work.
For me, this role combines:
- Communication
- Vision
- Strategic marketing
- Community building
- Inspiration
- Change management
- Storytelling
Depending on the context, similar German terms could also be translated as:
- Catalyst
- Brand ambassador
- Visionary leader
- Community builder
- Thought leader
- Innovation ambassador
Especially in the context of my creative consulting approaches, strategic initiatives, sustainable projects, cooperative movements, and AI-driven concepts, this term resonates strongly with me — because my goal is usually not just to advise or organize, but to emotionally engage people and mobilize them around a shared vision and purpose.
Of course, this does not always succeed equally well. But in this regard, I follow the words of T. S. Eliot:
“For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.”
Nothing but hot air
03.06.2026
Nothing but hot air. How a Dutch inventor changed the world of cooking with “hot air” of all things.
There was a time when “hot air” was an insult.
Politicians were full of hot air.
Advertisers produced hot air.
Managers on talk shows anyway.
Hot air stood for big words and very little substance.
Then a Dutch engineer came along and turned it into one of the most successful inventions of modern times. The Airfryer may be the only billion-dollar idea in the world that really consists almost entirely of hot air.
The man behind it was Fred van der Weij.
And although millions of people use his invention today, very few people know the name of this innovator.
